With next week's Super Bowl only ten days away, it is turning out to be one of the most expensive sporting events of all time. According to data from SeatGeek, a website that tracks prices for Super Bowl tickets on the secondary market at sites like StubHub, eBay and the NFL’s Official Ticket Exchange, Super Bowl XLVI has become downright expensive (even by today's standards)--average resale ticket prices for this year’s game exceed $3,100.

And if you think that the $10 ticket price for the initial game was a steal, think again - there were over 9,000 empty seats at Los Angeles Coliseum for that first title game between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
